Fading
Ways is a vibrant young indie label with offices in Toronto, London
and Helsinki. Our international roster of artists features bright
young stars firmly rooted in their respective musical tradition,
from singer/songwriters to post-harcore passing through classic
rock - a label with a rock n roll heart and solid gold soul.
Several
of our artists are now looking for agent representation for tours
in the UK and mainland Europe. Some have toured before, others are
making their first steps towards life on the road. This page introduces
you to them and provides mini-bios, EPK bios and photos, as well
as press links on each of the above.
We
look forward to hearing from you!

NEIL
LEYTON www.neilleyton.co.uk
& www.neilleyton.com
Bio
A
humanist philosophy, a militant stance, and a four-octave voice
bred on the classics (Cash, Presley, Stones), introducing a songwriter
who has absorbed and digested all the great reference points to
come up with an artistic voice like no other, reflected in a relatively
short 6-year solo indie career.
An
independent thinker that insists on challenging his audiences, both
live and on record, to think for themselves and judge objectively
- the opposite of the North American jock mentality that
he despises along with vapid music from grunge to bland singer/songwriter
contemporary radio hits; Leyton prefers the venom of Dylan confronting
the journalist from Time on "Don't Look Back", or
the MC5 blowing Eric Clapton's hapless trio, Cream, off a Detroit
stage; and chose the struggle of starting an indie label (Fading
Ways Music) to the usual star-manufacturing russian roulette of
signing a major record deal.
The
Betrayal
of the Self, titled after Swiss socio-psychologist Arno Gruen's
book "Der Verrat am Selbst", inexplicably out of print
in the English language, will be his third solo album, due out in
May '06 via
Fading Ways Music UK (Leyton's label with biz partner Ashlyn Eaton)
and Sweden's Feedback Boogie label. The album was recorded in Stockholm
during a two-week period last October, featuring Leyton's
Swedish backing band, The Ghosts, and an array of special guests
including members of Diamond Dogs as well as Dregen (Backyard Babies)
and Nicke Andersson (Hellacopters). Several tracks were also
co-written with fellow Canadian punk rock hero, Rich Jones (ex-Black
Halos, Amen, Dogs d'Amour).
The
release of the new album will be heralded in the UK by a limited
edition EP that features 4 older Leyton tracks, re-recorded and
produced by Ginger (ex-Wildhearts) and featuring Rich Jones, Natasha
Moledina, Ginger and the Wildhearts' drummer, Stidi. Rounding off
the 4 main tracks on the Dead Fashion Brigade EP are two new compositions
by the Stagger Twins (Leyton and Jones), including a cut off the
Betrayal of the Self album. The Dead Fashion Brigade will be out
on Fading Ways Music UK distributed via Cargo Records UK. A limited
edition vinyl 7" single featuring a vinyl mix of "lie
to me" and the EP version of "fires" (a split with
Turku Romantic Movement) will also be released in the brand new
Fading Ways Finland label.
"His
songs are snapshots on record; different at every live show, electric
or acoustic, and perfect any way they are - they are recorded because
they exist, and they exist because he wanted to say, or let us
hear, something meaningful, and emotional, and human." - Mikko
Jokela, FW Finland.

TURKU
ROMANTIC MOVEMENT www.turkuromanticmovement.com
Bio
Turku
Romantic Movement is a Finnish rock band, which started from the
funeral of their Finnish version Turun Romantiikka on their last
gig in Riemufestivaali, Helsinki 27.1.2006. The line-up is the same,
but the language has changed.
The
band has released three albums in Finland: Ajatus on kapinaa (Thinking
Is Rebellion) in 2002, Metamorfoosi (Metamorphosis) in 2003 and
Rocknrollin viimeiset dandyt (The Last Dandies of Rock
n Roll) in 2005; two cd-singles and one vinyl single.
They have played over 120 gigs all around Finland and gained a reputation
as an ultra energetic live band. Their musical style varies from
aggressive guitar rock to Scandinavian melancholy. Their lyrics
are polemical and socially aware.
Turku
Romantic Movements first release in English is a split vinyl
with Canadian rocker Neil Leyton and its going to be out on
March by Fading Ways Finland. The vinyl includes the songs Animals
and Generation Updated. An English album will be out in autumn 2006
or winter 2007.

LIGHT RIPPERS www.redlightrippers.com
Bio
In
a world where bands are a dime a dozen, Red Light Rippers have
arrived to save the day. Too showy for punk rock, too rugged
for glam, RLR are straight up, in your face, louder than hell,
Kick Ass Rock and Roll. Like
the unholy offspring of a young Axl Rose and Alice Cooper!

THE
PARIAHS www.thepariahs.com
Bio
“Rawk and Roll, Baby. We're older, louder and dumber than
YOUR band.”
The
Pariahs are an exuberant five piece rock band whose eccentric
marriage of punk energy, arena rock histrionics and dumb-ass
humour has won over a huge underground following in Canada since
their inception in 1989. The bands’ self-titled 3rd album,
released on November 14th 2005 on Fading Ways Music, distributed
by Cargo, is their first to be unleashed in the UK & Europe
and a perfect introduction to their manic self-mocking heavy
rock.
The
Pariahs toured the UK in October 2004, and also in November
2005 as special guests of the Diamond Dogs.
The
Pariahs have survived grunge, metal, punk and guitar pop by
remaining largely oblivious to them while having a bit in common
with all of them. Formed in Kingston, Ontario, Canada in 1989,
they moved to Toronto two years later. The Pariah’s debut
album ‘Home Is Where You Hang Yourself’ was released
in 1995 and the follow-up, ‘Mouthful Of Headache’
in 2000. Over the years they have shared stages with the likes
of The Tragically Hip, Deftones, Therapy and The Ramones in
their native Canada.
The Pariahs’ self-titled third, manic,
scuzz rock album is an unhinged, unabashed release which bleeds
untainted rock ‘n’ roll. “Fans of Wildhearts,
Nashville Pussy and other skuzzy rock will adore this stuff”
said Black Velvet Magazine in their latest issue.
The
Pariahs are a gang of filthy, Ramones-lovin malcontents
who never met three chords they didnt like. Their third
platter finds them coughing up another slab of new and familiar
no-frill punk-rawk rammalama marinated in a broth of the finest
piss, vinegar and stale beer. -Chart Attack, Canada
